Malaria Quality Control Slides

The microscopic identification of blood parasites is based upon observing the morphology of stained organisms within red blood cells. It can be very difficult to acquire positive patient samples to make good quality control slides in-house to validate blood parasite staining techniques.

Alpha-Tec has succeeded in creating reliable and stable quality control slides containing smears of red blood cells infected with a mixture of ring-form, trophozoite, and schizont stages of Plasmodium falciparum. These slides are pre-fixed with methanol and come out of the pouch ready to stain with traditional Giemsa, Wright’s, or Field stains. Just open and stain!
