DVVtest® 25, 10 x 5 mL vial set, lyophilized - CE

DVVtest^® is a simplified single-vial dilute Russell's Viper Venom Time (dRVVT) test reagent for the determination of Lupus Anticoagulant (LA) in plasma.

The reagent contains Russell's Viper Venom that directly activates Factor X to Factor Xa in the presence of phospholipids and calcium. Factor Xa cleaves prothrombin to thrombin, which converts fibrinogen to fibrin leading to detectable clot formation in plasma. This direct activation of Factor X bypasses the contact and intrinsic pathways in the coagulation cascade, thereby excluding interference from deficiencies of Factors VIII, IX, XI and XII or their respective inhibitors.

A positive DVVtest^® is indicated by a significant prolongation of the clotting time. A DVVconfirm^® (Ref 815) test should then be carried out. The presence of LA in plasma samples is confirmed when the ratio of the DVVtest^® clotting time to the DVVconfirm^® clotting time is greater than the range of the laboratory's normal reference DVVtest/DVVconfirm^® ratio.

The DVVtest^® may also be performed on samples with a normal aPTT if a patient is suspected of having LA, because the dilution and type of phospholipids contained in the DVVtest^® reagent increase the test's sensitivity and specificity to LA.
