Measures D-dimer, cross linked fibrin degradation product (XL-FDP), in human plasma.Elevated XL-FDP levels indicate reactive fibrinolysis and are found in a number of arterial and venous occlusive disease states, including acute Myocardial Infarction (MI), Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), Pulmonary Embolism (PE) and Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC). Elevated XL-FDP has also been reported in surgery, trauma, sickle cell disease, liver disease, severe infection, sepsis, inflammation, malignancy and complications during pregnancy. Determinations of XL-FDP levels have been used to monitor the course and response to thrombolytic therapy. For Research Use Only
