As the world continues the battle against the COVID-19 infections and the number of people hospitalized with severe infections increases, we would like to advise you of the interim guidelines recently released by the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) on how health care professionals may manage bleeding disorders associated with COVID-19.  While the majority of hospitalized patients initially present with single organ failure/respiratory failure, some patients progress to more systemic disease and multiple organ failure.  The development of bleeding disorders has been found to be a marker of significantly poor prognosis in these patients.
